BEFORE & AFTER
Transforming Houses
into Homes.
Welcome to our transformation gallery. Here, you’ll see how JZ Design turns challenges into opportunities and existing spaces into elevated, functional homes. Each before-and-after reflects our commitment to designing with intention, clarity, and creativity.
Arvada Kitchen Glow-up
In this Arvada split level home, our clients were adamant that they did not want to open their small, u-shaped kitchen up to the rest of the home, but they did want to add a small amount of functional seating, lots of storage and lots of fun color and personality. By stealing a few feet from a neighboring room, we were able to relocate the refrigerator and pantry wall to the back of the kitchen, allowing the original kitchen to become just prep and cooking space. Custom teal cabinetry with white oak interior and a white oak waterfall peninsula make this kitchen anything but ordinary and prove that bigger is not always better!
Downtown Denver Condo:
1970s to Today
The views of both downtown and the front range from this condo in Downtown Denver sold the homeowner on the place, but the interior needed some attention to make those views accessible from the great room - and give the kitchen some modern day functionality.
Broomfield Ranch Remodel
Built in the 1960s, this Broomfield ranch was home to a young family looking for better flow between their closed off living spaces and their kitchen - which they were hoping to expand at the same time. By taking over the small dining room and removing the wall between the kitchen and living room, we were able to double the size of the kitchen and include a large center island for casual dining and prep space.
Louisville 1970s Kitchen Refresh
The kitchen in this 1970s Louisville, Colorado home had been renovated by previous owners - and while the kitchen functioned just fine, it didn’t have the wow factor or openness that the new owners were hoping for in their home. Conscientious of not wanting go remove the existing kitchen, we worked our magic by removing the large fireplace that chopped the home into three sections and creating an island with a waterfall walnut table to blend the existing kitchen cabinetry into the expanded space. New cabinetry at the island and former dining niche add important storage and counter space - we introduced intentional contrast in the new cabinetry and brought both spaces together with that gorgeous walnut waterfall table built into the island.
Castle Rock Kitchen Expansion
The goal of this kitchen remodel in Castle Rock was to expand into the existing dining room to create more counter space and wall space for two avid cooks. When it came time to select materials, we worked to come up with a compromise between a love for natural wood materials and a love of color. We think we struck the perfect balance with this walnut and dark green kitchen!
